Initially when I think of the prompt “restoration” I think of Governor Greys mansion which I visited last year and that it has been fully restored to what it was like back in that day in the 1800’s when it was first built. Its easy to think of the restoration of a building or even the restoration of a piece of furniture.

However thinking wider than that what else can be restored? Film, photos, cars, trucks to name a few but what about relationships?

Plenty of people get hurt by someone else’s actions and they lose a friendship, a lover, a colleague. Can a broken heart be mended, can you regain that trust again, how would you restore the relationship?

Or is it possible that the relationship is broken forever?

Should I change the way I approach the prompt and show something that is in need of restoration rather than being restored?

Once again the possibilities are endless and I look forward to all of the reveals in a couple of months!

  1. Catherine, your writing brought me back to earth. Ever since I read the prompt, my thoughts have been racing in too many directions. Having restored a house from 1824 in Munich, that was my very first thought, then the old church from the 14th century I grew up next to… but it truly gets much deeper. Like you, I’m looking forward to the next reveal.

  2. Since Al shared the prompt, I have been selecting piles of cloth and thinking, doing some planning and then putting things away and starting again – ‘restoration’ seems to get me excited, and moving off in more directions than perhaps I need. Thank’s, Catherine.
